how to prepare for a successful long run

  1. Have the phone ring at 1:45 am. It's work.
  2. Listen, comprehend, respond, instruct, advise, listen, repeat.
  3. Stay up and worry. Drink water.
  4. 3:00 am. Call work, verify, worry less, drink water.
  5. No use sleeping. Drink water.
  6. 4:00 am. Enough bad television. Make coffee.
  7. Shower. Bananna, bread with peanut butter, milk, coffee.
  8. Take care of business.
  9. Dress. Foam roller cavs.
  10. More coffee and water.
  11. More business.
  12. Prepare after run recovery drink.
  13. Go drive to run location.
  14. Call work and say don't call me anymore.
  15. Scout people wearing watches; that's everybody but me.
  16. Run. Work way to one of the lead packs. Stop to retie shoes. Repeat.
  17. Be friendly so you can ask time at the end of the run, or just to be friendly.
  18. Done. According to the nice lady in the orange top, our time is 1:51 for 13.1 miles.
